Developing a Habit

Science says that it takes anywhere from 20-70 days to form a new habit. The easier the habit, the faster it is formed. How does this relate to what we are doing during this time of praying and fasting you ask? Well, if for the next 40 days you faithfully pray and declare every single day, there is a good chance it is not just something you partake in any longer, it is part of who you are. We do these 40 days of special consecration to draw focused attention from all of ESBS to our goals, but what we are also after is a lifestyle of praying for your continent. The easiest task in the next several weeks is that at 5pm you set an alarm and declare that “Europe Shall Be Saved”. This takes you anywhere from 2-5 seconds. It does not interrupt the flow of your day. Now if only you prayed it, it would be powerful, but imagine 10.000 people praying it at the same time! If all these 10.000 take 5 seconds each, this results in 50.000 seconds of prayer, or 13.8 hours! If everyone took 10 seconds that means, we would cover 24 hours because everyone developed a habit of praying 10 seconds a day. Easy math, right? Wrong! With God on our side, prayer is not simple math. It is not addition. It is exponential growth. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; (Lev. 26:8) Imagine prayers equal to 24 hours arise every day from 10.000 individuals how much ground we would gain in the spirit! Right now we are in the Pray & Declare Phase of the Harvest cycle, but this is only 1/4th of what is happening this year. We have another phase where people get equipped and sent out, we have a phase of church planting and a phase of celebration. We need prayer covering all year around, so this is the perfect time to develop a habit that becomes part of who you are. Es dauert zwischen 20 und 70 Tage, bis sich eine neue Gewohnheit eingeschliffen hat. Je einfacher die Gewohnheit, desto kürzer die Zeitspanne. Was hat das mit unserer Gebets- und Fastenzeit zu tun, magst du dich fragen? Wenn du in den nächsten 40 Tagen jeden einzelnen Tag treu betest und proklamierst, dann stehen die Chancen gut, dass du nicht nur an der Aktion teilgenommen hast, sondern dass du es verinnerlicht hast und es Teil von dir geworden ist. In den kommenden 40 Tagen der besonderen Hingabe richten wir unser Augenmerk auf die ESBS-Ziele, aber gleichzeitig soll es zu einem Lebensstil werden, dass wir für unseren Kontinent beten. Der einfachste Schritt besteht darin, dass du jeden Tag deine Erinnerungsfunktion auf 17:00 Uhr stellst und dann proklamierst: „Europa wird errettet werden.“ Dies dauert nur etwa zwei bis fünf Sekunden und unterbricht nicht deinen Tagesablauf. Es wäre schon kraftvoll, wenn nur du das tust, aber stell dir vor, was es bedeutet, wenn 10 000 Leute das gleichzeitig mit dir beten! Wenn diese 10 000 Leute sich dafür fünf Sekunden Zeit nehmen, sind das 50 000 Sekunden Gebet – 13,8 Stunden! Bei zehn Sekunden pro Person wären wir schon bei 24 Stunden. Einfachste Mathematik, oder? Falsch! Mit Gott auf unserer Seite ist Gebet viel mehr als einfaches Rechnen, wo die Gebete addiert werden. Bei und mit Gott geht es um exponentielles Wachstum. „Fünf von euch sollen Hundert jagen, und Hundert von euch sollen Zehntausend jagen“ (3 Mose 26,8) Stell dir vor, welche Auswirkungen im Geist es hat, wenn 10 000 Leute jeden Tag ihre Stimmen im Gebet erheben und so 24 Stunden gebetet wird! Im Moment befinden wir uns in der Gebets- und Proklamationsphase des Erntezyklus. Dies ist aber nur ein Viertel dessen, was in diesem Jahr geschieht. In einer anderen Phase werden Menschen ausgerüstet und ausgesandt. Es gibt eine Phase, wo Gemeinden gegründet werden und eine Phase des Feierns. Das ganze Jahr muss im Gebet abgedeckt werden. Deshalb ist es eine gute Gelegenheit, sich nun Gebet zu einer Gewohnheit zu machen, die du verinnerlichst. Practicals for Prayer

We all know prayer is good. We all agree prayer is necessary. We all intend to pray more. Yet it doesn’t happen. If you have ever been in that dilemma I want to share some things that have helped me engage more with God. Prayer is simply this: “Talking to God”. It’s that easy, and yet it can be so difficult. The first thing that has helped me the most in growing my prayer life is to actually schedule a prayer time. This appointment with God is non-negotiable and has the highest priority. If I have it early in the morning and I am not able to wake up for it, I am cutting whatever I am doing in the evening and go to bed earlier. If my prayer time is in the evening I leave whatever I am doing to keep it at all cost. You get the point. If I do this 80% of the time I consider it successful. Another habit that I have is when I get to my prayer time I turn on good worship music that helps me connect with the heart of God. The Father has designed us as musical creatures and I believe worship enables us to meet with God on a deep intimate level. Music moves our emotions and even when I have a hard day it can sometimes shift me in a moment and I feel His presence. A tool that is very easy to create and is tremendously helpful is a prayer-list. Write down people, places and things you want to pray for. Whenever it is time to pray and you have no clue what to say or what to pray you already have a list of things. I don’t let myself be restricted by that list, but use it as a platform to jump off of until I feel a flow on a certain point. Now that we have covered when we are going to pray, the atmosphere we want to have during our time and what exactly to pray for let’s look at the how. The easiest way that I have found is to use Biblical Prayers. By that I mean prayers that are already written down in the Bible and speaking them to God over people or situations that are on my list. Oftentimes we just don’t know what to say and the Bible is full of language that helps us engage with God. Here is a short list to start you off: Eph. 1:17-19 Eph. 3:14-20 Phil. 1:9-11 Col. 1:9-11 Acts 2:17-21 I am confident that as you start applying some of these things you will find that prayer will become more enjoyable day after day. Ein paar praktische Hinweise und Tipps zum Beten

Wir alle wissen und stimmen darin überein, dass Gebet gut, notwendig und wichtig ist. Wir alle möchten gern mehr beten – und schaffen es oft nicht. Wenn du dich jemals in diesem Dilemma befunden hast, möchte ich dir gern ein paar Dinge weitergeben, die mir geholfen haben, mich mehr auf Gott einzulassen. Gebet ist mit dem einfachen Satz „Gespräch mit Gott“ beschrieben. Einerseits einfach und doch manchmal so schwer. Für Wachstum in meinem Gebetsleben war es für mich sehr hilfreich, dass ich eine Gebetszeit festgelegt habe. Dieser Termin hat für mich höchste Priorität und ich halte mich daran. Das bedeutet dann konkret: Liegt dieser Zeitraum am frühen Morgen und das Aufstehen fällt mir schwer, dann streiche ich manche Dinge am Abend, um früher ins Bett zu gehen. Liegt meine Gebetszeit am Abend, dann beende ich meine Aufgaben frühzeitig, um diesen Termin einzuhalten. Ich denke, mein Punkt ist klar geworden. Wenn ich das zu 80 Prozent schaffe, dann sehe ich das als Erfolg. Ich habe mir angewöhnt, zu Beginn meiner Gebetszeit gute Anbetungsmusik einzuschalten, was mir hilft, mich mit dem Herzen Gottes zu verbinden. Unser Vater hat uns als Wesen mit Sinn für Musik erschaffen. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass wir dadurch Gott auf einer tieferen persönlichen Ebene begegnen. Musik berührt unsere Gefühle und nach einem anstrengenden Tag kann sie mir helfen, mein Augenmerk auf Gott zu richten und seine Gegenwart zu erleben. Ein hilfreiches und sehr einfaches Werkzeug ist eine Gebetsliste. Schreib auf, für welche Leute, Dinge und Orte du beten möchtest. Wenn dir dann in deinen Gebetszeiten nichts einfällt, für was du beten könntest, kannst du deine Liste zur Hand nehmen. Ich beschränke mich nicht auf diese Liste, aber sie hilft mir am Anfang der Gebetszeit, bis ich dann ab einem gewissen Punkt leichter weiterbeten kann. Wir haben nun darüber gesprochen, wann, in welcher Atmosphäre und für was wir beten. Nun geht es darum, wie wir beten können. Biblische Gebete sind eine wunderbare Gebetsanleitung. Wir können Gebete, die in der Bibel formuliert sind, nehmen und sie über Menschen und Situationen unserer Gebetsliste aussprechen. Wir wissen manchmal nicht, wie wir für etwas beten können, und da finden wir in der Bibel Texte, die uns helfen, mit Gott ins Gespräch zu kommen. Sie nimmt vom Geist, was dieser vom Heiligen Geist empfangen hat, damit die Seele, nachdem, sie vervollkommnet wurde, dem Leib das vermittelt, was sie erhalten hat, so dass auch der Leib an der Vervollkommnung des Heiligen Geistes Anteil hat, und zu einem geistlichen Leib werden kann. Denn der Geist kann nicht selbst auf den Leib einwirken.

Der Leib ist die äußere Schale der Seele, während die Seele die äußere Hülle des Geistes ist.

Vor dem Sündenfall beherrschte der Geist durch die Seele das ganze Sein des Menschen. Bevor der Mensch eine Sünde beging, war die Macht der Seele vollkommen unter der Herrschaft des Geistes. 

Damit der Geist regieren kann, muss die Seele ihre Zustimmung geben, andernfalls ist der Geist nicht in der Lage, Seele und Leib zu regulieren. Die Entscheidung liegt aber bei der Seele, denn ihn ihr wohnt die Persönlichkeit des Menschen.

So ist die Seele eigentlich der Drehpunkt des ganzen Wesens, weil sie die Entschlusskraft in sich birgt. Nur wenn die Seele bereit ist, eine demütige Stellung einzunehmen, ist es dem Geist möglich, den ganzen Menschen zu führen. Wenn sich die Seele dagegen auflehnt, hat der Geist keine Macht.

It is the soul's task to ensure that mind and body do not lose their proper relationship, that is, that the body remains subordinate to the mind and that the spirit rules the body through the soul. The human soul is therefore of great importance. It takes from the Spirit what the Spirit has received from the Holy Spirit, so that, after perfection, the soul, after it has been perfected, communicates to the body what it has received, so that the body also participates in the perfection of the Holy Spirit, and can become a spiritual body. Before the Fall, the Spirit ruled through the soul the entire being of man. Before man committed a sin, the power of the soul was completely under the reign of the Spirit. 

For the spirit to govern, the soul must give its consent, otherwise the spirit is not able to regulate soul and body. The decision, however, lies with the soul, for it is the personality of man that dwells in him.

So the soul is actually the fulcrum of the whole being, because it contains the power of determination. Only when the soul is ready to take a humble position is it possible for the spirit to lead the whole person. If the soul rebelled against it, the spirit had no power.

Prophecy: God is Raising Up Power Intercessors

You’ve heard of power evangelists—and you know that intercession paves the way for

successful propagation of the gospel. Look for the rise of power intercessors.

When I was in Knoxville recently, the Lord began to talk to me about power gifts in the 

five-fold. We hear so much about power evangelists, but the Lord wants His miracle-working power to rest on every believer.

In this next great move of God, we’ll see power apostles, power prophets, power pastors, 

power evangelists, power teachers—and power believers. When we earnestly desire spiritual gifts as Paul said, we’ll see signs and wonders following us. Power is for those 
who press in to God’s heart of compassion to see souls saved, healed and delivered.

I believe power intercessors are undergirding all of this. I heard the Lord say:

“I am calling forth a new breed of intercessors who have in past seasons been hidden in 

prayer closets, petitioning behind the scenes, declaring behind closed doors and proclaiming in the secret places.

“These nameless, faceless power intercessors will emerge on the scene to change the scene with displays of the gifts of My Spirit. They will move in My dunamis power because they have been willing to bear My burdens and labor to relieve the suffering of those battling wicked attacks of the enemy and people under his nefarious influence.

“I am calling forth this new breed, which is not really a new breed at all. I am calling forth the

power intercessors who see, hear, say, pray and operate in a dimension of My glory that will bring solutions to the suffering.”

I believe God is mantling intercessors with power in this season. I prophesied previously 

about how God is mantling intercessors with boldness. I believe that boldness is necessary to step out in confidence and release the power of God, not just in the prayer closet but in the highways and byways of the nations.

Power intercessors, God is giving you permission to step out and do the greater works. The 

power is not reserved for evangelists or apostles. The power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you.

ESBS - Why we pray / Warum wir überhaupt beten

Why we Pray! There are many reasons for prayer. He commanded us to pray, to establish God’s government, to receive healing and breakthrough and many other things. Today I want to focus on one specific thing that often doesn’t come to our minds when we think about prayer, Joy! Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:24) Jesus taught us, that we ought to ask not only for the sake of conversation. Even though He loves that!! He enjoys that. He wants to stay in the conversation forever with us, but there is something more that He desires. Jesus wants us to receive the answers to our prayers, so that our joy might be full! He wants us to be joyful in times of prayer and fasting because it brings glory to Him. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:13) With this being said, I want you to experience the joy of answered prayers. And for that to happen let me give you one helpful tool. As we pray for the salvation of Europe, which is a very general or broad prayer, also have a specific personal focus. See if there is a person or two in your immediate circle that needs salvation and pray for them every day in the next 40 days. As we pray for an awakening of the Church in Europe, pray for your own church as well, and see how the Lord answers these requests. Something that I have found over the years is that mixing broad prayer topics and narrow focuses is very effective. The Lord answers my narrow ones which gives me courage and faith for the bigger ones as well. Today I invite you to do both and see the Lord move in your life, your family, your church, your country and ultimately your continent!   This year we are going to focus our prayers on the 7 spheres of society: Family Religion Business Education Government Arts/Entertainment Media As the Lord touches these elements in our countries, I am convinced that we will see a shift in our continent for the better. The Gospel will go forth in power to bring transformation, for it is the power of God unto salvation and change. Wir sind zum Beten berufen, um Gottes Herrschaft zu errichten, um Heilung und Durchbrüche zu erleben und vieles mehr. Heute möchte ich unser Augenmerk auf eine Sache lenken, die wir nicht unbedingt sofort mit Gebet in Verbindung bringen: Freude! „Bittet und ihr werdet empfangen, auf dass eure Freude vollkommen sei“ (Joh 16,24) Jesus sprach darüber, dass es beim Beten nicht allein um das Gespräch mit ihm geht, obwohl er das liebend gerne tut. Er möchte für immer mit uns im Gespräch sein, aber es gibt noch etwas darüber hinaus, was ihm am Herzen liegt: Jesus möchte, dass wir erleben, wie unsere Gebete beantwortet werden, damit unsere Freude vollkommen sei. Er wünscht sich, dass wir mit frohem Herzen beten und fasten, weil ihn das ehrt. „Und was ihr bitten werdet in meinem Namen, das will ich tun, damit der Vater verherrlicht werde im Sohn“ (Joh 14,13) Vor diesem Hintergrund möchte ich, dass du die Freude erlebst, die aus erhörten Gebeten kommt. Dafür möchte ich dir ein hilfreiches Werkzeug zur Hand geben. Während wir nun für die Errettung von Europa beten, was ein sehr allgemeines und weit gefächertes Anliegen ist, richte dein Augenmerk auf konkrete persönliche Anliegen. Bete in den nächsten 40 Tagen täglich für eine oder zwei Personen in deinem näheren Umfeld, die noch nicht Jesus nachfolgen. Wenn wir für eine Erweckung der Kirche in Europa beten, dann bete auch für deine eigene Gemeinde und erwarte, dass der Herr diese Anliegen erhört. In den letzten Jahren habe ich erlebt, dass gerade diese Kombination von Gebet für umfassende Anliegen und für sehr spezifische besonders effektiv ist. Wenn ich sehe, wie der Herr Gebete erhört, die mein persönliches Umfeld betreffen, dann ermutigt das meinen Glauben, ihm für die großen Anliegen zu vertrauen. Heute lade ich dich ein, für beides zu beten und zu erleben, wie der Herr in deinem Leben, in deiner Familie, deiner Gemeinde, deinem Land und auf unserem ganzen Kontinent Großes bewegt! In diesem Jahr konzentrieren wir uns in unseren Gebeten auf sieben Bereiche unserer Gesellschaft: Familie Religion Geschäftswelt Bildung Regierung Kunst/Unterhaltung Medien   Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass wir erleben werden, wie sich die Dinge in Europa zum Besseren wenden werden, wenn der Herr diese Bereiche in unseren Ländern berührt.
