New paradigm for spiritual warfare

Need a Safer Way to Do Spiritual Warfare? (new blog by Doug Addison) 

Have you ever been around someone who chronically complains? Someone who tends to complain about everything that’s going wrong in their lives or in the world? This is often a symptom of an over-focus on Satan, demons and curses instead of focusing on God, angels and the Lord’s blessings.
God is giving us a new paradigm for spiritual warfare and how to release the Lord’s blessings! His desire for us is to learn how to loose angels and blessings on Earth—just as it is in Heaven!
“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 18:18 NIV
Here are 3 safer ways you can practice spiritual warfare—without getting a lot of backlash:

1. Stop complaining … start praying!

It is important to be careful how you speak to others and even how you talk about your situation or circumstances. Speaking things that bring division or a lack of love can restrict the blessings of God instead of releasing them over your life.
Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed. Psalm 17:3 NIV
Rather than focus on negative things, it helps instead to find the positive in everything and everyone.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8–9 NIV

2. Build up your character

It’s important to remember that you have a real enemy who doesn’t have good plans for you. If you throw a punch—expect the enemy to punch back. 

The best way to overcome the enemy and bring him down in your life is to develop godly character. That way if you throw a punch, the enemy will miss when he tries to punch back because he has nothing in you.
“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” John 14:30 NASB
We need to be careful not to battle in the areas we have not fully overcome in our own lives.

3. Remember your assignment

Remember who you are and whose you are. You are a child of God! Don’t be distracted by the enemy and his ways. The Name and Blood of Jesus gives us power and authority over demons, and—even greater—the power and authority to release the blessings and angels of God!
What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:12
You can learn to rise above all the negative noise and the spirit of this world and come into agreement with the thoughts and ways of the Lord. Get ready, the best is yet to come!
