Die höchste Form des Lebens besteht, für Gott da zu sein und ihm ganz zu gehorchen. Obwohl er alles verloren hat, findet er volle Genüge in der Erfüllung der Ziele Gottes. Was kümmert ihn sein eigenes Wohlergehen, wenn das Wohlgefallen Gottes auf ihm ruht. Frieden und Ruhe ist nun sein Teil. Äußere Einflüsse können ihn nicht mehr berühren.
Sein Wille, der mit der Kraft des Geistes gefüllt ist, kann nun seine Emotion beherrschen. Sein Wandel ist beständig, zuversichtlich und kommt aus der inneren Ruhe. Das früher so oft erfahrene Auf und Ab ist nicht mehr.
Wir können Schmerzen, Dunkelheit, Ausgelaugtheit und Sorgen empfinden. Aber diese Gefühle können nur den äußeren Menschen durchdringen, lassen aber den inwendigen unberührt. Aufgrund der klaren Trennung zwischen Geist und Seele kann zwar die äußere Seele verwirrt werden und leiden, aber der Geist bleibt so ruhig, als wäre nichts geschehen.
Wenn der Gläubige diese Stellung vor Gott einnimmt, erkennt er plötzlich, dass ihm alles, was er um des Herrn Willen verloren hatte, wiedergeschenkt wurde. Er hat Gott gewonnen und mit Gott hat er auch alles gewonnen, was Gott gehört. Gott musste zunächst durch Tiefen führen, weil noch das Seelenleben den Wandel bestimmte und der Gläubige zu viel für sich selbst suchte, manchmal auch Dinge, die außerhalb des Willens Gottes lagen. Erst jetzt weiß er, was die Freude des Herrn wirklich bedeutet. Nun kann er dankbar alles annehmen, was Gott ihm gibt, denn er sucht nicht mehr sich selbst und verlangt nicht nach dem, was Gott ihm vorenthält.
Gott schenkt diesem Gläubigen zwar Frieden, Trost und Freude, aber er erfreut sich nicht mehr dieser Gaben an sich, sondern an dem Geber selbst. Das Seelische ist vergangen, das geistliche Leben hat begonnen.

We can feel pain, darkness, exhaustion and sorrow. But these feelings can only penetrate the outer man, but leave the inner man untouched. Because of the clear separation between spirit and soul, the outer soul may be confused and suffer, but the mind remains as calm as if nothing had happened.
When the believer takes this position before God, he suddenly realizes that everything he had lost for the Lord's sake was given to him. He has won God and with God he has also won everything that belongs to God. God first had to lead through depths, because the life of the soul still determined the change and the believer sought too much for himself, sometimes also things which lay outside the will of God. Only now does he know what the joy of the Lord really means. Now he can thankfully accept everything that God gives him, because he no longer seeks himself and does not ask for what God deprives him of.
It is true that God gives peace, comfort and joy to this believer, but he no longer rejoices in these gifts, but in the giver himself. The spiritual has passed away, the spiritual life has begun.
